In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Tropical storm 15e (Julio), located approximately 1128 nm southeast of San Diego, is tracking west-northwestward at 16 knots.

In the Western Pacific Ocean: Typhoon 11w (Haishen), located approximately 229 nm south of Sasebo, Japan, is tracking northward at 10 knots.

Nigeria – Floods washed away at least two million tons of rice in Nigeria. That is more than 25% of the previously projected national output of 8 million tons, according to estimates by a farmers’ organization. At least 450,000 hectares (1.2 million acres) were destroyed in Kebbi, the country’s main rice-growing state.

Bangladesh – Six new deaths raised the death toll from floods in Bangladesh to 257, with people facing difficulties amid the coronavirus pandemic, including losses to the country’s agriculture and fish farming, according to officials. Of the total fatalities, 212 drowned, 27 died of snakebites and 15 were killed in thunderstorms, while three lost their lives to other diseases. Furthermore, 78,000 people were infected with waterborne diseases.
