In the northwest Pacific Ocean: Tropical depression (ts) 18w (Conson), located approximately 59 nm southeast of Da Nang, Vietnam, is tracking northwesttward at 01 knot.

Typhoon 19w (Chanthu), located approximately 102 east-southeast of Shanghai, China, is tracking northward at 17 knots.

Vietnam – Storm Conson brought torrential rain to parts of Vietnam from 10 September, triggering flash floods which resulted in 2 fatalities and hundreds of homes damaged. In a period from 10 to early 13 September, Storm Conson dumped 908 mm of rain in Binh Tan, Quang Ngai Province. The worst of the flooding was in Quang Ngai, where 775 houses were damaged.

Pakistan – At least 20 people have died after torrential monsoon rains and mudslides hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in northwestern Pakistan early from 08 September 2021. Meanwhile disaster authorities in the country report that over 160 people have now died in rain-related incidents since the start of this year’s monsoon. In Torghar district, 13 bodies have been recovered from the debris of a mudslide which swept away two houses and damaged several others.

Guinea – At least 5 people have died and thousands left homeless after heavy rain and floods caused severe damage in areas of Guinea from late August. Heavy rain fell over most of the country from 30 to 31 August, causing flooding in the prefectures of Siguiri, Guéckédou, and in the capital Conakry. Almost 70,000 people from around 10,000 households have been affected.
