In the northwest Pacific Ocean: Tropical Storm 19w (Chanthu), located approximately 31 nm northwest of Sasebo, Japan, is tracking east-northeastward at 15 knots.

Malaysia – Severe flooding swept through parts of Sabah State in Malaysia after heavy rain on 15 September. The rain is also thought to have been the cause of a landslide where 3 people died. The streets of the state capital Kota Kinabalu were under flood water over 1.5 metres deep. Meanwhile the heavy rain is thought to have been the cause of a landslide in Penampang District which destroyed at least 1 building. A mother and 2 young children tragically lost their lives in the incident. Three other victims including two children survived.
