In the Southern Hemisphere: Tropical cyclone 08s (Batsirai), located approximately 123 nm east-Southeast of Europa Island, is tracking westward at 10 knots.
Tropical cyclone 10p (Cliff), located approximately 1030 nm south-southeast of Diego Garcia, is tracking southwestward at 09 knots.

South Africa – Heavy rainfall overnight, 04 to 05 February 2022, caused flooding in several parts of Tshwane and Ekurhuleni municipalities in Gauteng Province, including Mamelodi, Centurion and Olifantsfontein. The city government warned people to take necessary precautions when driving or walking near flood waters, and urged residents living next to rivers and streams to evacuate to a safer place. KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Province Disaster Management said 138 people were left homeless after severe flooding in eMadlangeni and Greater Kokstad local municipalities on 04 February 2022.
Russia – The number of houses partially flooded amid snow-caused flash floods in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region has sizably decreased in three of its districts. Water has fully subsided in 17 settlements. As many as 458 grounds, 143 houses in seven settlements remain partially flooded. Snow, wet snow has continued in the Krasnodar Region since the end of January. Snow levels have reached an almost all time high of over one meter in some settlements. Now, snow is actively melting.
Madagascar – Cyclone Batsirai killed at least 10 people and displaced nearly 48,000 when it struck Madagascar overnight. The cyclone later weakened but not before wreaking havoc in the poor Indian Ocean island nation which is still reeling from a deadly tropical storm earlier this year. Parts of the country were lashed with heavy rains and wind before the cyclone made landfall in Mananjary. It uprooted trees, destroyed buildings and forced residents to weigh down flimsy corrugated iron roofs along its path.
