Uzbekistan – At least 4 people have died as a result of floods and mudslides in Uzbekistan after a month’s worth of rain fell in less than 2 hours. The country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) said the floods are some of the worst seen in 80 years. Samarkand and Jizzakh regions recorded more rain in 2 hours on 20 April than is normally seen for the whole of an average April. More rain is expected over the coming days. At least 260 farms and buildings suffered damage.
