Dengue Fever - Philippines

Philippines Health Secretary, Francisco Duque III has declared a national dengue epidemic due to continuous increasing number of dengue cases in different regions in the country. From January to July this year 146,062 cases of dengue in the whole Philippines have already been recorded. In addition, 622 deaths have been reported.

African Swine Fever

The African swine fever (ASF) outbreak in Vietnam has spread significantly since the first outbreak was reported on 19 February 2019. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) reported last week that a total of 62 provinces/cities reported outbreaks, about 3,700,000 pigs have died from the disease or been culled.

Measles - DR Congo

Since our last report on the measles outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) at the end of June, the outbreak total has increased by some 17,000 cases. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), from 1 January to 21 July 2019, a total of 137,154 suspected measles cases including 2,581 deaths (case fatality ratio 1.9%) have been reported from 455 (88%) out of 519 health zones across all 26 provinces of the DRC.
