In the Western Pacific Ocean: Typhoon (ts) 09w (Bavi), located approximately 2176 nm northwest of Kunsan AFB, is tracking northward at 12 knots.

Afghanistan – Afhanistan‘s National Disaster management Agency (ANDMA) reports flooding has affected eastern provinces of the country after heavy rainfall from 25 August 2020. At least 35 people have died in the floods.

Pakistan – Heavy monsoon rainfall has caused flooding and landslides in Sindh Province, Pakistan, including the provincial capital, Karachi. According the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) in a report of 25 August, heavy rainfall and ensuing flooding affected the districts of Mirpur Khas, Tharparkar, Karachi, Badin, Thatta, Hyderabad, Chhor and Tando Jam from 24 August 2020. Local media report around 300 were evacuated in Dadu and over 1,000 in Karachi district.

Kenya – At least 1,000 families have been displaced by flooding from Lake Turkana in northwestern Kenya. Meanwhile the Turkwel Dam is expected to overflow, with over 300,000 people facing evacuation. Recent water inflow into the lake has surged to unprecedented levels from 500m to 800m claiming the once dry beaches, hotels, homes, government offices and displacement of more than 1,000 households.
