Tropical Storm Grace is located about 420 mi…675 km e of the Leeward islands with maximum sustained winds…40 mph…65 km/h, Present movement…w or 280 degrees at 22 mph…35 km/h.

In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Hurricane 12e (Linda), located approximately 883 nm south of San Diego, is tracking west-northwestward at 11 knots.

In the northwestern Pacific Ocean: Tropical storm 16w (Sixteen), located approximately 56 nm west-northwest of Enewetak, is tracking westward at 15 knots.

Japan – Authorities have issued evacuation orders after days of heavy rainfall in south and western Japan. One person has died and 2 are missing after a mudslide destroyed 2 houses in Nagasaki prefecture. A landslide struck in the city of Unzen in Nagasaki prefecture early on 13 August following heavy rainfall. Two houses collapsed, burying 4 residents. Mount Unzen, near Unzen City, recorded 80.5 mm of rain in 1 hour on 13 August. A record 571.5 mm of rain fell in 24 hours and 743.0 mm in 48 hours to 13 August.

Cameroon – Floods affected several neighbourhoods in Cameroon‘s commercial and economic capital Douala after torrential rains from 11 August 2021. Hundreds of homes were flooded and roads swamped, causing massive traffic disruption in the coastal city which is home to 2.7 million people. Local media reported at least 3 people are thought to have died after the rain caused a building to collapse in the PK13 neighbourhood in Douala.
