In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Tropical storm 13e (Marty), located approximately 850 nm south-southeast of San Diego, is tracking westward at 12 knots.

In the Northwest Pacific Ocean: Tropical Depression 16w (Omais) is located approximately 135 nm south-southwest of Jeju Island, South Korea, is tracking northward at 24 knots.

Mexico – Officials in the state of Veracruz, Mexico, report that 8 people died after heavy rain brought by Hurricane Grace on 21 August 2021. Strong winds from Hurricane Grace also caused power cuts and brought down trees. Overall Veracruz Civil Protection reported damages in 22 municipalities in the state. Flooding was also reported in Ciudad Madero in the state of Tamaulipas close to the border with Veracruz.

Tennessee, USA – Record rain fell in Tennessee, USA on 21 August, 2021 causing catastrophic flooding. A state of emergency is in effect for Dickson, Hickman, Houston and Humphreys counties. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville said a record 17 inches (432 mm) of rain fell in the county on 21 August. Officials reported 22 people have lost their lives and approximately 40 people are missing or unaccounted for. Rural roads and highways have been ripped up or washed away and a large section of Interstate 40 was closed temporarily. Power, water and telecommunications infrastructure has also been damaged or destroyed.
