Tropical Storms – Roundup of Tropical Storms:

In the northwest Pacific Ocean: Tropical depression 02w (Two), located approximately 582 nm south-southeast of Hagatna, Guam, is tracking west-northwestward at 09 knots.

In the Southern Hemisphere: Tropical cyclone 23p (Fili), located approximately 98 nm northwest of Noumea, New Caledonia, is tracking south-southeastward at 08 knots.

Thailand – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) in Thailand reports that flooding in southern provinces over the last few days has affected over 20,000 households. Heavy rain from 05 April 2022 caused damages and flooding in the provinces of Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Phatthalung and Surat Thani. A total of 21,669 households have been affected (estimated 108,345 people) in total. There have been no reports of injuries or fatalities.

Sydney, Australia – A combination of high tides and more rain have prompted residents in parts of Sydney’s south to be ordered to evacuate their homes on Thursday. Separately, residents in Picton, on the outskirts of Sydney’s south-west, were warned to prepare for an evacuation order to be issued, as a result of rising waters in the nearby Stonequarry Creek. Sydney has now surpassed its average annual rainfall in just over three months of 2022. The city’s Observatory Hill weather station had recorded 1226.8mm for the year by Thursday morning, compared with the average annual rainfall figure of 1213.4mm.
