Wildfires - Nevada, Colorado, USA
The blaze that began near Golden Eagle Regional Park in Sparks and temporarily prompted the closure of Interstate 80 has grown to about 13,500 acres. Firefighters have contained about 20 percent of the blaze.
Meanwhile, a fire burning in the Wadsworth area reached about 20,000 acres overnight and continues to grow. This fire is now covering portions of Washoe and Churchill counties.
Grass and sage are fueling both blazes burning in areas firefighters cannot access easily on the ground, forcing them to attack them by air.
In Colorado, hot and dry conditions have led to multiple small wildfires burning across Colorado, and fire crews across the state are working to get them under control.
Forest Wildfires in Jordan
A total of 408 dunums of forest have been destroyed in 11 wildfires across the country since the start of the year, according to a government official. Jordan has relatively little forest area and close monitoring is showing a decrease in forest fires compared to previous years.
