Tropical Storms – Roundup of Tropical Storms:

In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Tropical depression 09e (Jimena), located approximately 1101 nm east of Hilo, Hawaii, is tracking northwestward at 06 knots.

Tropical Storm 08e (Hilda), located approximately 991 nm southwest of San Diego, is tracking west-northwestward at 08 knots.

In the northwestern Pacific Ocean: Tropical depression 12w (Twelve), located approximately 263 nm west-northwest of Chichi Jima, is tracking westward at 11 knots.

Tropical storm 13w (Lupit), located approximately 272 nm southwest of Taipei, Taiwan, is tracking northward at 03 knots.

Tropical depression 14w (Miranae), located approximately 18 nm north of Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan, is tracking east-northeastward at 07 knots.

Tropical storm 15w (Nida), located approximately 437 nm east-southeast of Yokosuka, Japan, is tracking northward at 10 knots.

Iran – Flooding has occurred in East and West Azerbaijan provinces, Tehran, Zanjan, Semnan, Qazvin, Kurdistan, Kerman, Mazandaran and Hormozgan from 01 August. Eight people lost their lives: 6 in Qazvin province, 1 in West Azerbaijan province and 1 in Mazandaran. Flooding has damaged roads, bridges and homes. IRCS said it has provided emergency shelter for 85 people.

Sudan – At least 9 people have died and hundreds of homes damaged or destroyed after flooding in Sudan and South Sudan since 24 July 2021. In Sudan, the Blue Nile river has broken its banks in several areas including in Sennar State, where transport has been severely disrupted. In Unity State of neighbouring South Sudan, authorities say at least 7 people have died in floods which submerged several homes in Mayendit County, displacing around 400 families. According to VOA, the floods destroyed infrastructure, houses and the livelihoods of hundreds of people. Nearly 90% of the land in Mayendit is submerged.

India – As of 04 August that flooding has affected 1,225 villages in Shivpuri, Sheopur, Datia, Gwalior, Guna, Bhind and Morena districts. Bridges and roads have been wiped out and teams from Air Force, Army and National and State Disaster Response Forces have been deployed across affected areas to help rescue victims marooned or trapped in flooded areas. About 5,950 people have been moved safely, with a further 1,400 still requiring rescue. Flooding and rainfall has damaged mobile telephone and power infrastructure, and the Gwalior-Guna railway track, which has been closed.
