In the Western Pacific: Tropical Storm 05w (Nanmadol), located approximately 399 nm southwest of Sasebo, Japan, is tracking north-northwestward at 19 knots.

Pakistan - At least 11 people were killed and scores more were injured in flash floods triggered by heavy rains in Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan, officials said Sunday. "Heavy rainfall on Friday triggered flash floods which swept away mud houses Lasbela district of Balochistan causing damage to life and property," an official said. Poorly built homes across Pakistan, particularly in rural areas, are susceptible to collapse during the annual spring and monsoon rains in July-August, which are often heavy.

Trinidad & Tobago - It took about an hour of midday rainfall yesterday for flash floods to inundate parts of Port of Spain and surrounding hillside communities.

Vermont, USA - Localized flash floods are affecting many areas of the state and have interrupted Amtrak rail service in Vermont on Sunday. Flood waters have since receded in some affected areas. However, some roads have experienced damage and remain closed or restricted.

China - Floods in southern China have killed at least 15 people over the past few days and forced the evacuation of tens of thousands more. In Guangxi region, seven died and three were missing following torrential rains, with more than 23,000 people being evacuated to safer areas. In neighboring Hunan province, more than 300,000 people have been evacuated and eight people have died. More rain is forecast in coming days, according to the China Meteorological administration.
