Worldwide fatalities are nearly 24 054. More than 540 000 people have been infected.
USA – The United States now has more coronavirus cases than any other country with close to 86,000 infections, surpassing both China and Italy.
Italy – The death toll in Italy rose to 8 215, with 80 589 infections.
New York – New York state health officials reported more than 8 000 additional cases of novel coronavirus, bringing the statewide total to 39 000 confirmed cases. New York City is now reporting more than 23 000 cases. New York City has also reported nearly 430 fatalities.
Germany – Germany recorded 4,191 new cases of the coronavirus and 36 more deaths, raising the total number of infections to more than 37 000.
South Korea – South Korea has reported 91 new coronavirus cases on Friday. The total number of cases in the country has now reached 9,332.
Spain – Spain recorded 769 new deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths in the country due to the coronavirus to 4,858. The health ministry said the number of confirmed cases now stands at 64,059.
France – The death toll in the country from the pandemic rose to 1,696 yesterday. There have been 29 144 cases confirmed in the country, a rise of about 13 percent in 24 hours. Data showed 42,000 people had been registered by their GP as having the coronavirus over the last week alone, again revealing that testing in France has only revealed a minority of cases.
Iran – Iran announced 144 new deaths from the novel coronavirus, bringing the official number of fatalities to 2,378 in one of the world’s worst-hit countries. Overall confirmed cases are 32,332.
Russia – Russia reported 196 new cases of coronavirus, a daily record, taking its official total for those infected with the disease to 1,036.
Ebola – DR Congo
No new cases have been reported in the ongoing Ebola virus disease (EVD) outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 17 February 2020.
