DR Congo – More than 10,000 homes were displaced in separate floods in the Democratic Republic of Congo, authorities said. The flooding submerged homes in Maniema province in the east, according to authorities. The River Congo burst its banks, forcing water into several villages in Maniema province, including Kindu. Meanwhile, 24 people were killed Friday by flooding in Uvira territory in South Kivu province that is also in the east, authorities said. Area administrator Kiza Muhato told the media 45 people were injured and 3,500 homes were destroyed when the Mulongwe River flooded. About 1,000 families were left homeless, according to reports.

Rwanda – Saturday and Sunday rains in Gatsibo district have reportedly claimed lives of three people, all the victims were washed away by extremely heavy floods.

USA – For the second Sunday in a row and continuing into Monday, the South is in the midst of an outbreak of severe weather, including widespread damaging winds, tornadoes, hail and torrential rainfall. Multiple waves of severe thunderstorms are underway or anticipated into early Monday from Mississippi to the South Carolina coast as a strong storm system rolls across the area. Flash flooding is accompanying violent storms in some areas. Initial reports indicate a number of tornadoes touched down in Mississippi.
