Yemen – Flash floods caused by heavy rains have hit Yemen’s interim capital, Aden, leading to a power outage and city wide immobilization. Local sources confirmed that at least three Yemenis have drowned to death and that dozens of houses have been destroyed.
Alberta, Canada – Ice jams from rapidly melting rivers and thawing snow is flooding communities in northwestern Alberta. Overland flooding in the regions has submerged roads and highways, waterlogged farm fields and seeped into residential basements. Crews have been working to minimize the damage, draining culverts, piling sandbags and running pumps to divert water away from homes and streets.
