The countries with the 10 greatest number of Covid-19 cases:

Zika Virus/Dengue Fever – Mexico

Mexico reported recently that the south-central Mexican state of Morelos is the only state to report autochthonous Zika virus cases in 2021 to date. Through mid-July 2021, Morelos has confirmed a total of 20 autochthonous cases of Zika, including six in pregnant women.

In addition to the Zika virus figures, Morelos is also the state with the most confirmed dengue cases in the country. The state has reported 281 confirmed cases of this disease, also transmitted by the Aedes mosquito, accounting for the highest incidence rate.

Dengue Fever – Bangladesh

In a follow-up on the Bangladesh dengue fever situation, Health Services reported 237 dengue fever cases today, of which 218 were reported in Dhaka alone. This is the first time in 2021 that the daily tally has topped 200. This brings the dengue total in the country to 2,895, a rise of about 1,000 cases in less than a week. The bulk of the cases were reported in July (~2,500).

Covid-19 – Indonesia

Officials with the Jakarta, Indonesia government announced today that two Sumatran tigers at the city’s Ragunan Zoo tested positive for coronavirus in mid-July and are currently recovering.
