England - Flash floods in south-east England caused road and rail disruption and a train derailment on London Midland’s service into Euston on Friday. After overnight thunderstorms dumped almost half a month’s rain on the home counties in just a few hours, the Environment Agency issued 31 flood alerts, including parts of the upper reaches of the Thames, before 9am. Travel conditions were made worse by the derailment near Watford Junction of the 6.19am service from Milton Keynes to Euston after floods caused a landslide.
