Indonesia Update - Flooding and landslide triggered by heavy rainfall have now claimed the lives of at least 26 people and left 19 others missing on the Indonesian island of Java.
North Korea - South Korea has repeated its refusal to give aid to the flood-hit North despite warnings of an epidemic, claiming that Kim Jong Un would take undue credit for its help. At least 138 people have died and nearly 400 are missing after torrential rain flooded villages in the impoverished northeast of North Korea, according to the UN. A “second disaster” is on the way through disease and malnutrition, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies warned as it appealed for $15.5 million in emergency funding. The UN estimates that 100,000 people are homeless and 40,000 need other forms of aid.
Australia - Forbes residents have evacuated under orders from the State Emergency Service as floodwaters are set to increase overnight and throughout Sunday. The town in central-western NSW has been hit by by floodwaters from the Lachlan River, which are poised to surpass 10.65 metres by midday on Sunday. More than 1000 residents were ordered to leave their homes on Saturday, and families heading west for the school holidays have been urged to avoid the area.
