Volcanos

Roundup of Global Volcanic Activity

Sinabung (Sumatra, Indonesia): Activity at the volcano remains elevated. Vertical explosions from the summit dome are relatively frequent and sometimes strong. This afternoon, an explosion generated an eruption column of approx. 2000 m above the summit. The most recent phase of activity has been characterized by the destruction of the lava dome due to collapses, which have in turn resulted in frequent rockfalls and pyroclastic flows.
